Procedure for admission to Ph.D. programme and General Rules


  • Procedure for admission to Ph.D. programme
    Candidates who desire to get admission to Ph.D. courses in The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda have to qualify Ph.D Entrance Test. The written test shall be followed by personal interview in the form of interaction with the Department Research Committee(DRC) constituted by the concerned Department/ Faculty/ Institute, as the case may be; provided that the candidate is qualified in the written test. At the time of personal interview, the candidates are expected to discuss their research area.

  • General Rules

    The candidates must read the 'ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA' carefully and must satisfy themselves regarding their eligibility for the Test before payment of Examination fee and filling the Online application.
  • candidates are also requested to verify, the vacancy and the experts for guidance/ supervision in the area of specialization in which he/ she wants to do the work in concerned department/ Faculty/ Institute.
  • PET Examination will be conducted at Vadodara Centre Only.
  • Examination fee once paid will not be refunded.
  • The payment of examination fee (step - I) and Online Registration (step - II) for PET Examination is mandatory. It is sole responsibility of candidate to complete both the steps. No Email / SMS correspondence will be communicated from PET Office Vadodara to any successful or unsuccessful Fee Payment Transaction or Application Form Registration.
  • Acceptance of the form and the fee does not guarantee eligibility for taking the test. Eligibility criteria has to be met by the applicant. Permission to appear for the Test is provisional till such time the candidate fulfills the eligibility criteria.
  • Qualifying the PET examination does not entitle a candidate to get admission at Ph.D. in the Department/ Faculty/ Institute concerned where he/ she intends to seek admission.
  • The application is available only “Online”. Visit our website: www.petmsubaroda.in
  • The hall ticket has to be downloaded from our website 3 days before examination.
  • Candidates are requested to answer the questions only on the OMR answer sheet provided for this purpose.
  • Use of programmable scientific calculator is not allowed.
  • Electronic equipment/ mobile phones etc are not allowed in the premises of the examination hall. If found, it is liable to expulsion from the examination center.
  • Unfair means in relation to the PET will be referred to Unfair Means Committee constituted for this purpose.
  • No candidate is permitted to leave the examination centre before the expiry of the time allocated for the examination.
  • There is no negative marking in the examination.
  • Canvassing, before or after Examination, in any form will disqualify the candidate.
  • The decision of the PET agency shall be final in all matters.
  • All legal disputes pertaining to this Test shall fall within the jurisdiction of Vadodara only.
  • The result will be declared on our www.petmsubaroda.in  website.
  • Printed / Hard Copy of Certificate will not be issued / sent to any Successful Candidate. PET Examination Centre, The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda will issue an E-certificate to qualifying candidates based on the information provided by the candidate and his / her original records / certificates will not be verified. The registering authority should verify the original records / certificates of the candidate while considering him / her for registering for Ph. D. Programme.
  • On qualifying the PET examination, the candidate should contact respective department to enrol himself/herself for Ph. D after the date of declaration of the result. The enrolment and registration for Ph. D will be done as per Ph. D. Ordinances and reservation policy of The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda.
  • At any time, if it is found that any false information has been provided by the candidate, his / her application will be treated as rejected.
  • PET office, The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda will not be responsible for network problems or any other technical problem of this nature during Application Form Registration or during the Online Examination. 
  • There is no provision of re - evaluation.
  • In case of dispute or controversy of any kind arising before, during or after the PET examination the decision of the Hon ' ble Vice-Chancellor, The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda will be final.
  • Notwithstanding any information not mentioned in the PET, it shall be controlled by respective rules of Ph.D ordinances/ Handbook of University/ decisions of Senate / Syndicates shall prevail.
